Laparoscopy has revolutionized the management of Meckel’s diverticulum (M.D.), offering new diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities. Conventional diagnostic methods, such as Meckel’s scan, radiographic contrast studies, ultrasonography, and CT scans, often have limitations in accurately identifying M.D. and its associated complications. Laparoscopy provides a valuable tool for diagnosing and treating complications associated with Meckel’s diverticulum. The laparoscopic-assisted transumbilical Meckel’s diverticulum (LATUM) technique is a straightforward and safe approach for assessing complications and performing resection. While intracorporeal resection of Meckel’s diverticulum can be performed using endo-staplers or endo-loops. Extracorporeal resection offers several advantages, it simplifies the procedure, minimizes the number of instruments required, and eliminates the need for staplers. In our experience, we utilized laparoscopic-assisted transumbilical extracorporeal techniques for two cases. In one case, resection was performed using an Endo GIA stapler. In the second case, a laparoscopic-assisted transumbilical extracorporeal Meckel’s diverticulectomy was conducted with a hand-sewn anastomosis.
